Born in Chicago of the early twenties, a mid western upbringing of the thirties, to NYC and a film career of the forties and fifties and a sudden departure with three very young children, two cats, a dog and an artist husband to the south of Spain that was to last for three decades.
Barbara Hollander began writing documentary film scripts in the forties. Fifty years later she is completing an extended memoir, AFTERTHOUGHTS, making order of some 400 poems and a recipe-less cook book, FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS . Simultaneously.
In the process she has raised three children and juggled a considerable number of careers as well as her artist husband. Film making, design consultant, interior decorating, 16th C, house restoration, den mother to hundreds of animals from birds of prey to monkeys and a chimpanzee, writing for magazines, founding and curating the Hollander Museum of Antiquities and hostessing thousands through it all.
After thirty years in Spain, she returned to make her home in America and now lives and works with husband Gino in Aspen. |
